4.26 Inch 480x800 Touch E Paper Module With FT6336U Controller 24 Pin 4 Wire SPI

Electronic paper is a reflective, bistable display. Microcapsules hold a clear fluid with positively charged white pigment and negatively charged black pigment; an electric field moves them, white to the front for a bright pixel and black for a dark one. When the field is removed the particles stay put, so the image is a physical state of the film and survives with the power off, which is why the panel draws current only while refreshing. This 4.26 inch module pairs a 480x800 monochrome film on a 55.68 x 92.8 mm active area with the FT6336U controller, which drives the panel waveform and processes capacitive touch in one chip. Interface is 3-wire or 4-wire SPI over a 24 pin 0.5 mm FPC at 3.3 V, and the front glass carries a 0.5 mm anti glare coating at 3 H hardness.

Portable readers show a page for minutes at a time, so zero holding current matters more than refresh speed. Wall mounted panels show room schedules and door plates. Equipment instruction plates put a wiring diagram beside a machine. Access control terminals show a name and a credential state. Clinic boards show patient status. Picking displays show a bin location and a count. All of them show static text, read at arm's length, updated occasionally.

Five properties define the advantage: the image costs nothing to hold, so a coin cell carries a page for weeks; the reflective surface needs no backlight, so it is readable in a bright room without glare; the 3 H anti glare glass keeps contrast stable under ceiling lights and resists scratches; the integrated FT6336U removes a separate touch controller, a second flex and board space; and the full view direction keeps the layout legible at eye level or below a counter.

The module renders 480x800 black and white content with full and partial refresh, reports touch coordinates to the host, and drops to microamp sleep between updates. Partial refresh redraws only the changed region, so a clock minute costs a fraction of a full frame, and flashing modes clear residual pigment after many partial cycles.

Commissioning runs in four steps: connect the 24 pin FPC and confirm the 3.3 V rail; send the FT6336U reset and initialization sequence; transfer the frame buffer in the controller's order; trigger a full refresh and sleep the panel. Calibrate touch at rest, since a hand on the glass during boot shifts the reference capacitance.

Never bend or crease the FPC tail, and never lift the module by the ribbon, because the traces crack before the connector fails. Handle under ESD protection, store between -30 and +70 C away from condensing humidity, avoid repeated full refreshes in a short window, and protect the glass from point pressure during assembly.
