This module puts electrophoretic e-paper into a card shaped device. The film holds microcapsules of charged black and white pigment in a clear fluid, with red and yellow in the colour builds; a drive pulse raises one pigment to the surface and the particles remain there once the field is removed, so the stored credential is visible without any power. That property is what makes a card work: a membership number, a balance and a QR block can be shown for the life of the card with the electronics asleep. The 152x296 matrix on a 30.704 x 60.088 mm area gives about 1:1.95, the proportion of a boarding pass, and the 1.0 mm outline fits a laminated body. The SSD1680 drives it over 3-wire or 4-wire SPI from a 2.2 to 3.7 V supply.

Smart membership cards show a name and a balance. Employee access badges show a photo placeholder and a clearance level. Gift and stored value cards show a code and a validity date. Courier pickup slips show a tracking number and a route. Patient ID cards show an identifier and a clinic code. Each is carried in a wallet or on a lanyard, read at close range, and updated when a credential is issued rather than at every use.
4. AdvantagesThe card format drives the design. A 1.0 mm outline fits inside a laminated body, and the 152x296 grid resolves a QR code plus a readable name, which is the practical limit for a card seen at 30 cm. Three colour builds let a card carry a brand band in red or yellow without a second printing pass. Because image retention needs no power, the card stays valid for its full service life and a lost battery does not mean a lost credential. Bistability also removes refresh flicker at a terminal.
5. FunctionsThe panel renders text, numbers, barcodes and QR blocks, accepts 3-/4-wire SPI writes, refreshes fully when a credential is issued and partially when a balance changes, and stays readable if the cell is removed. Partial mode lets a terminal top-up run without repainting the whole face.
6. User ManualDuring personalisation, connect the FPC to the writer, send the SSD1680 initialization sequence, transfer the personalisation frame, then run a full refresh before lamination. A partial refresh handles balance updates at a terminal, and any interrupted write needs a full refresh, since a half written frame leaves a band across the card that lamination will preserve permanently.
7. PrecautionsFlexing stress is the main risk in a card: never bend the module across the active area, keep the FPC bend radius generous, and specify a stiffener in the card body, otherwise a wallet bend shows as a grey stripe. Operate from 0 to +50 C, keep lamination heat within the film rating, and keep the edge seal clean, because a laminated card cannot be repaired.
8. ShippingCards and panels ship 5-10 working days after payment. Samples go by express so lamination trials can start quickly, and production volumes move by air or sea with capacity of about 100,000 pieces per month.
9. Payment TermsT/T, L/C at sight and Western Union are accepted; personalisation samples are prepaid and production follows a deposit plus balance against documents.
10. PackagingModules ship with protective film in anti-static trays with foam separators, sealed in a moisture barrier bag and a rigid carton, so a card body is not scratched before lamination.
11. Purchase, Return and After-SalesMinimum order is 10 pieces. Panels damaged on arrival are replaced after photo verification, the 12 month warranty covers manufacturing defects, and our engineers review lamination temperature and bend radius before a card design is frozen.
