This module uses the same bistable electrophoretic film as every e-paper panel, but its 400x300 landscape array behaves like a small notice board. Microcapsules hold charged black and white pigment, with red and yellow in the colour builds; a pulse moves the required species to the front surface and the particles remain after the field is removed. The result is an image that costs nothing to keep and reads by reflected light, with no backlight and no glare. The SSD1683 drives the 84.8 x 63.6 mm active area at 0.212 mm pitch, about 120 pixels per inch, over 3-/4-wire SPI through a 24 pin 0.5 mm FPC. At 15 g and 1.2 mm thick with a 2.2 to 3.7 V supply, the module is light enough for a hanging badge and tolerant of a cell that has aged.

Luggage tags show a name, a flight and a barcode. Conference plates show a name, a company and a table number. Workshop boards show a task list. Clinic doors show a doctor and a schedule. Dock doors show a route and a cut-off. Each is landscape, read at arm's length, and updated when a plan changes.
4. AdvantagesThe 4:3 landscape format is the practical reason to pick this size: a name plate or a door sign is wider than it is tall, and a landscape panel needs no rotation tricks in firmware. The SSD1683 keeps the command set close to the SSD1680 family, so tools written for smaller labels port with little change. Fifteen grams and a 0.5 mm FPC let the module hang from a lanyard or sit in a folded card holder, and the 2.2 to 3.7 V range removes the need for a regulator in a badge design.
5. FunctionsThe module renders names, dates, tables and barcodes in black, white and optional red or yellow, takes SPI data, supports full refresh for a new person and partial refresh for a changed gate or time, and retains the frame through a power loss. In a badge program that means a printed card becomes reusable: only the variable fields are rewritten.
6. User ManualCommissioning: apply the supply, reset, load the SSD1683 table for 400x300, set the address window, stream the frame, then refresh. Verify the panel orientation against the 400x300 order, since landscape and portrait addresses differ and a mismatch shows as a rotated or clipped image rather than a blank screen. Run one full refresh after lamination or card assembly to clear stress-induced ghosting.
7. PrecautionsKeep within 0 to +50 C and out of direct sun, since a panel behind glass in a car can exceed that easily. Do not crease the film when inserting it into a badge holder, and avoid pressure from a clip on the active area, which shows as a permanent grey patch. Keep the FPC away from the lanyard hole, and never cut power mid-refresh.
8. ShippingProduction ships in 5-10 working days after payment. Samples go by express so a badge can be assembled, volume by air or sea, with capacity near 100,000 pieces per month.
9. Payment TermsT/T, L/C at sight and Western Union are accepted. Trial orders are prepaid; production follows a deposit plus balance against shipping documents.
10. PackagingPanels ship with protective film, in anti-static trays with foam separators, sealed in a moisture barrier bag inside an export carton marked per model and quantity.
11. Purchase, Return and After-SalesMinimum order is 10 pieces. Units damaged in transit are replaced after photo verification, the 12 month warranty covers defects, and our team assists with orientation setup and badge assembly advice.
