A square 240x240 array is a useful compromise: large enough for a dial or a two column layout, symmetrical enough to sit behind a round or square bezel without wasted corners. The panel is a transmissive TFT, cells switched by thin film transistors and held by storage capacitors, lit by two white LEDs through a light guide and read through crossed polarisers. IPS keeps the crystal rotating in plane, so colour holds when the screen is viewed off axis. The interface is what sets it apart: besides four wire SPI, the ST7789 accepts an 8-bit MCU parallel bus, faster for a full frame and useful where a host has a spare memory interface. The 240x240 pixels on 23.4 x 23.4 mm give a 0.0975 mm pitch, about 260 pixels per inch.

Smart home knobs show a mode ring and a temperature. Audio players show album art and a bar. Wearable instruments show a gauge with a numeric core. Camera accessories show a settings grid. Test meters show a value with a bar graph. Teaching pendants show an icon and a menu. Symmetry means the layout survives rotation, and a round bezel crops nothing important.
4. AdvantagesInterface flexibility is the first argument: one module serves a small microcontroller over SPI and a faster host over parallel without a board redesign. Density is the second: 260 pixels per inch draws a smooth dial with fine ticks, which a 128x128 panel cannot. The third is the choice of a 12 pin solder connection or a 24 pin FPC, letting the same part fit a hand-built prototype and a volume assembly. And at 1.5 mm with two LEDs, the module stays within a handheld thermal and power budget.
5. FunctionsThe module renders dials, gauges, icons, text and 65K colour images, accepts 4-SPI or 8-bit parallel input, supports windowed partial updates for a changing number, and dims through backlight PWM. On the parallel bus a full frame completes in a fraction of the SPI time, which matters when a host animates a needle or scrolls a menu and cannot tolerate a visible repaint.
6. User ManualCommissioning: apply 3.3 V, reset, load the ST7789 table for 240x240, select the interface mode in the controller registers, set the address window, write the frame, then enable the backlight. If the panel is blank on a parallel host, verify that the interface select pin and the IM settings match the bus actually wired, since the same part supports both and defaults to neither usefully.
7. PrecautionsNever exceed 3.6 V and never hot-plug the parallel bus while the panel is powered. Keep within -20 to +70 C, protect the 0.5 mm FPC from insertion stress, and avoid clamping the glass edge under a bezel, which shows as a bright rim. A panel that displays fine but flickers at the edges usually has an unstable supply rail rather than a driver fault.
8. ShippingDispatch is 5-10 working days after payment. Prototypes go by express, series orders by air or sea, with monthly capacity near 100,000 pieces.
9. Payment TermsT/T, L/C at sight and Western Union are accepted; samples are prepaid, and production runs on a deposit plus balance against shipping documents.
10. PackagingModules ship with protective film, in anti-static trays with foam inserts, sealed in a moisture barrier bag inside an export carton labelled with model, interface variant and quantity.
11. Purchase, Return and After-SalesMinimum order is 10 pieces. Arrival damage is replaced after photo verification, the 12 month warranty covers manufacturing defects, and our team provides the initialization table and parallel timing guidance.
